A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England, according to local police. Emergency services responded to the incident on Saturday, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Respond to Fatal Incident

South Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, near Doncaster, at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Saturday following reports of an incident involving a tiger.

Despite the response of emergency medical personnel, the man died at the scene.

Police said the tiger was not injured and remained inside its enclosure following the incident.

Authorities evacuated the wildlife park after the attack. Officers remained at the location later that evening as investigations continued.

Wildlife Park Cooperates With Authorities

In a statement published on its website, Yorkshire Wildlife Park said it was working closely with the relevant authorities to establish exactly what had happened.

The investigation is expected to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Protected Habitat for Endangered Tigers

Yorkshire Wildlife Park began operating in 2009 and opened its “Land of the Tigers” attraction in 2011.

The two-acre habitat was specifically designed for Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers, an endangered subspecies native to eastern Russia and parts of northeastern Asia.

According to the park, the enclosure features woodland, grassland and a raised walkway approximately 300 yards long, allowing visitors to observe the animals in their habitat. The area also includes a waterfall pool where the tigers can play.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal incident remain under investigation.
